Berry is one of the founding partners of Berry Appleman
& Leiden. Mr. Berry concentrates on legal matters involving
U.S. and global non-immigrant business visas, and he counsels
employers in complex immigration practice and policy concerns.
His experience in immigration law encompasses all aspects
of U.S. and global business immigration visas in every major
business sector.
Mr. Berry began practicing immigration law in 1978. He served
as Chairperson of both the Northern California American Immigration
Lawyers Association (AILA) and the Bar Association of San
Francisco Immigration Committee. Mr. Berry also served as
national Business and Industry Liaison to the American Immigration
Lawyers Association. He provided testimony to the United States
Commission to Reform Immigration.
Mr. Berry is a frequent speaker on immigration matters before
AILA, the Society for Human Resource Management, the Worldwide
Employee Relocation Council, the Bay Area Professionals in
Relocation Management, the Western International Personnel
Association, and other professional associations, corporations,
and research institutions. Mr. Berry has published immigration
articles on topics that include multinational transfers, mergers,
layoffs, and exceptional merit visas. He also develops and
oversees nationwide audits and trainings for I-9 and LCA compliance.
Mr. Berry secured his Bachelor of Arts degree with High Honors
from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. He received
his Juris Doctor Degree from Antioch School of Law in Washington,
D.C. and became a member of the State Bar of California. Mr.
Berry held an adjunct faculty position as Assistant Professor
of Immigration Law at Hastings College of Law. He has been
awarded the Martindale-Hubbell "AV" rating for his
reputation among peers for the highest legal ability and ethical
standards.
