Increased processing times for Indian visas

March 26, 2008 - Indian consulates in the United States are experiencing longer processing times for visas. Business travelers accustomed to obtaining a visa within one business day are now finding that most visas are being issued within 5 business days from the date of receipt for US citizens. Additionally, applications of individuals who are not citizens or permanent residents of the US must undergo an additional verification procedure which adds to the processing time and visa fee. Please take the extended processing times into consideration when making arrangements for travel to India.
