California EDD Still Working on RIR Cases Filed on April 30, 2001

DOL San Francisco Processing RIRs Received by August 27, 2001

October 04, 2001 - San Francisco - At the recent AILA liaison meeting, the California state SESA (EDD) office reported that, as of September 25, 2001, it was still processing RIR cases received on 4/30/01. The Department of Labor (Region VI, San Francisco) was processing RIR cases that were transmitted from the SESA office to DOL on or before 8/27/01.

April 30, 2001, was the last deadline for the so-called Section 245(i) program, which permitted certain applicants to qualify to apply for adjustment of status in the United States despite a period of time out of status or of employment without authorization. Due to this deadline, the EDD received thousands of applications all at once and it is taking some time to process each of the cases.
