Quarantined Visa Revalidation Applications Update

December 20, 2001 - Department of State (DOS) reports that visa revalidation applications and supporting documents sent to the DOS during October 17, 18, and 19, 2001, continue to be in quarantine pending anthrax decontamination. Impacted individuals who need to travel should apply for a new passport and apply for a visa at a U.S. Consulate. DOS will provide a letter to support a new passport application. For further information on how to obtain a support letter from DOS, please see our website article posted on December 17, 2001. DOS is planning to send a message to posts explaining the situation and asking posts to accommodate the individuals affected. DOS cautions that it will be up to the individual posts whether or not they will accept photocopies of approval notices, I-94s cards and other supporting documents.
