General Information

USCIS Policy Requires Foreign Nationals to Use Form AR-11 to Register Changes of Address

All foreign nationals residing in the United States for more than thirty days, whether temporarily or permanently, must formally notify USCIS of any changes to their home address. All changes of home address must be either mailed to a centralized USCIS address, via Form AR-11 or completed online through the designated USCIS website. USCIS expects that the Form AR-11 should be mailed within ten days of the change of home address.

If you are a foreign national who has recently changed a home address, please notify the USCIS by completing and mailing a completed Form AR-11 to the USCIS address listed on the Form or completing the online change of address form on the USCIS website. In order to prove that due diligence was exercised in filing the Form AR-11, BAL strongly advises that all such forms be sent using US Certified Mail, and Return Receipt cards. Sending the AR-11 form via Certified Mail is the only way to reliably prove that change-of-address notification was timely submitted. BAL also recommends that the foreign national submitting a Form AR-11 send a copy of such form to their immigration attorney. If completing the online address change form, it is best to print the completed online form and keep the record as proof of compliance.
